Odd PSU problem

I have here an Antec TRue control 550 watt.

When I use it to power up a computer the fans start spinning, but the computer doesn't boot. Measuring the voltages gives correct values.

Testing that computer with another PSU, no problem.

Powering up the PSU without computer and ervy value is correct, measured with multi meter... Anybody an Idea ?

did you connect the voltage regulating 5.25" drive? it increases the volts

piotke 16th March 2006 21:33

yes, and it still works because PSU responds to changes..

I'm without a clue -- support@antec.com ?

I just mailed them, it needs to be done through their online form, what I did.

Curious for their response.

What will happen if you warm the PSU up with a hair dryer?

Haven't had the time for that yet. But when measuring voltages, I noticed that connecting the grey wire to ground (using a multimeter ofcourse), the setup starts booting and harddisks spin up, something they didn't do before. But after a few seconds (5-10) the computer falls down again.

I was suspecting "cold solder" connections at some points.

When i had problems with my dfi lanparty nf.2 the dfi support suggested the boot problem could be coused by low rpm fans including those of the psu.
My problem was just a corrupted bios, maby your problem is psu-fan related?

No fan headrs are attached to the mainboards, certainly not from the PSU.
