Newcastle or Palermo?

Hi me with the stupid questions again. I'm considering upgrading or you could call it downgrading to a Palermo (3300+) based Sempron Socket 754 CPU.

I hear they are based on the Venice/San Diego Cores. While it probably has a much smaller cache I'm interested in overclockability of the chip.
My 3400+ (Newcastle) tops out at 2.6 Ghz on Air (Artic Freezer 64) I was wondering If I was interested in overclocking the Palermo to around 2.8 Ghz to 3 Ghz on my artic freezer or Danger den setup.
Is the Palermo the better choice? And no I'm not interested in 64 bit atm. By the time 64 bit windows and programs will become popular I will have upgraded.

that Sempron @ 2.8ghz will perform worse then the A64 @ 2.6ghz due to the missing cache
