post from 23/10 ;) I was in USA holiday, must have missed it;
there are tons of "free file shredder" applications out there, try searching download.com :)

something like: http://download.cnet.com/Simple-File...-10301332.html

Hi,

Deleting files permanently is really very simple. All you need is just select the files(s) and then press Del+Shift button together to delete the files permanently bypassing Recycle Bin.

Thanks,

Doing so doesn't permanently delete the file, it simply removes the reference to the file. Only when the sectors are overwritten with some other data the file is permanently deleted.

I should have waited until the 23d of December to post, but here goes: the last time I checked a hard drive was for a guy who had formatted the bugger twice, I recovered 385GB in pictures and music from a 500GB 'empty' disk... that's how 'permanent' permanent really is...

And with 'recovered' I do mean recovered as all the files were playable/visible...

I havent tested it, has been much sensitive info on a HDD that I wiped for me me to take the time to attemp recovery
