Geforce + high IRQ

specs:
P4 2.53 Ghz
512 Mb PC3200 Corsair DDR (thx Duron)
Asus P4PE
Gainward GF4 Ti-4400
Liteon 16x DVD
Liteon 52x writer

OS: Win2k Pro

My geforce is on IRQ 16 (together with usb controller). Could this be a problem? In games (UT, UT2k3) I have good fps, but I have random framedrops and I don't know why. Could it be the high IRQ or could it be because I use the onboard sound?

Any advice?
Is there a way to set the IRQ for my geforce to 9 or 11?

high IRQ does not relate to slow/high performance afaik :)
so the performance drops are due to other things
could be your HD being accessed for data..

I thaught that also, but wasn't sure. I think it has to do with onboard sound, because 3d mark runs without framedrops (no sound is used here)

try to disable the onboard sound in the bios
that way you'll know for sure!

I will do that, will put my SB Live in it, after my exams :(

that sort of thing is also a symptom of some problem with drivers. I can do two clean installs of windows and drivers on the same machine but in one case it will have the frame drops you have for some unknown reason. I dunno what it is. The IRQ thing isnt so much a problem really.

and there you see the advantage in action of asking your question in english ;)

thnkx 4 the tip Septimus!

I will do further testing after my exams, but setting the aperture size on 256 instead of 64 helped, I think... don't have much time to test, but I have the impression it helped.
