Buy a 9700 and OC it; less noise + half cheaper + equal performance

I think I'm missing the 'cheaper'-part. :)
Btw, any chance I could repair my GF4's cooling or that I could still get some bucks for it?

just feel at the back side of your GPU either it doesn't get too warm.... if it does, then your cooler is broken

how are your CPU temps?

Jolan 12th July 2003 12:22

Usually somewhere between 45 and 50°C (or so they were on hot days in june, haven't really touched the damn thing for nearly 2 weeks now).

are you sure GF4 cooling is broken ?
next week or so, i'll have some time, see what I can do

BTW, second hand price for a ti4200, which works perfectly is around 70 €, as they kost new 90 €, in germany

I've got a possible buyer who I might trick in paying up to €100. :)
Ain't got time until next weekend, if that suits you...

piotke 13th July 2003 11:56

I'll see, not sure when I have time

Jolan 13th July 2003 16:40

Replaced my gf4 with an old gf2, now it's UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP everytime I boot... What to do, what to do?

computerparts 14th July 2003 16:01

make sure your cpu core isn't damaged, since your cooler fell off
also check your cpu temps

CPU is fine, I reckon, temps don't go above 50° (don't know about it on a hot day though).
I just remembered something: somewhere waaaay back in june, around 3 AM, on a cold night when I had my window open, I was playing Deus Ex and I thought 'I'll go to bed when it crashes', yet around 6 AM I discovered that I was still up and running. This kinda agrees with the GPU cooler being broken-theory. I'll get someone to look after it asap, yet I wonder: could I still return it to the store (ForCom) or isn't a broken cooler covered by the guarantee? (Bought it last september, so the year isn't over yet.)
