dothan + dfi; no boot

I went to the post office today to pick up my dothan 1.6 + dfi dothan compatible motherboard.

So when I got home, I wanted to check it out offcourse, play around with it a little bit.

but it didn't boot.
I tried 3 different ram sticks
3 different videocards + onboard video
nothing else is hooked up (except usb mouse + keyboard via the ps2 connectors)
I cleared cmos
I tried with the fsb jumper on auto and 100mhz
the fans that are hooked up to the board spin up.
I loosened the cpu heatsink and just placed it ontop without bolting it down.

What else can I try?

it's not like I have a spare dothan or dothan mobo lying around...

I have a sucky nobootproblem just like you

fans spin sometimes when psu isn't totally hooked, but nothing boots.

welcome onboard; my DFI NF2 Infinity refused to post also, one day to the next. DFI response: BIOS corrupted itself

lol they said the same thing at hardewaren :)

but then the fans wouldn't spin now would they ;)

no it's way worse then that...

I forgot to tighten the screw that locks the cpu in it's socket :grum:

The Senile Doctor 22nd December 2004 19:10

?
screw that locks cpu in socket?
do you need to screw cpu's nowadays?

kristos 22nd December 2004 19:25

raaaaaah something just died :wtf:

speak of the devil hey :grum:

suddenly, setFSB couldn't read the values out anymore.

I reboot and I get single long beeps...

@ calantak : yes, these sockets use a bolt instead of the traditional lever.

kr15t0f 22nd December 2004 19:38

what kind of junk is that :wtf:
