DO NOT OPEN EMAIL from; support@microsoft.com

There's new worm known as Palyh making it's way into mailboxes disguised as; "support @ microsoft.com." HERE you can find the source story, and HERE is the fix from Symantec.

Thanks for the warning Liquid3D, seems to be a pretty serious virus, you're not the first one who warns me today. :)

Haven't received one.

Who opens attachments from unknown sources anyway ?

RichBa5tard 20th May 2003 17:42

I wouldn't open any attachement unless I already know the content, but i'd suspect many ppl trust emails coming from support @ microsoft.com.

piotke 20th May 2003 17:44

fok

I opened it...

What now ?

checkng task manager, 1 process is taking a 100% load, closed, rest seems fine. Will check on next reboot

edit: scanning with symantec tool

Thanx liquid 3d !

Liquid3D 20th May 2003 18:31

I'm so stupid though, because of the way I wrote the post, when it was automailed to me the address became a link! LOL Obviously I didn't open it, but I'd better place a space in there. LOL (actually it's not that funny) Doh.

you may want to edit that so it's not read as a link by the server here. I just realized my oversight in writing the post that way. Even your reply was read as a link. Quotes or spaces work.

TeuS 20th May 2003 18:57

just recieved it :/

piotke 20th May 2003 18:58

I already had 3 such emails....

jmke 20th May 2003 22:06

auto-deleted by NAV & Cloudmark, they are figthing to delete the mail first :p =)

the maniak 20th May 2003 22:10

aah thats why i haven't seen that mail yet

my NAV deletes it :d

Norton AntiVirus removed the attachment: application.pif.
The attachment was infected with the W32.Sobig.B@mm virus.
