Abit KX7 boot up -- Award Boot Block BIOS

Just installed the Abit KX7 I bought from Jakkerd, upon booting I receive this nice little message

"Award Boot block BIOS"

it then suggests to insert a diskette with a biosflash. Downloaded all versions from Abit.com.tw .. tried to flash.. Awflash.exe gives error "Unknown flash" ; and just sits there

unable to flash the board, unable to boot the board.

crap

try forcing the flash

how am I supposed to do that? the Award program says invalid flash and exits, no matter what /flags I use... ?

you've got plenty of mainboards around. hotswap the BIOS chip of the mainboard and flash it on another mainboard.

OR: get the BIOS from a dead mainboard (most BIOS chips are the same), hotswap the chip of the KX7 and flash the new BIOS to the chip of the dead board

it's really doable.

I don't have plenty mainboard around. the only one that is compatible is the KR7A, and that one gave up on me today :/

tip : if you throw borked mobos away
, rip the bios chip out first.

I don't throw mobo's away, still have my 486 and P1 mobo's lying around here :)
