| 1 big Fat32 partition on mobile usb hard disk Is there a free program that can format a usb mobile harddisk in 1 big fat32 partition (40 GB). Diskmanagement in WinXP is limeted to 32 GB. A bootdisk with Fdisk from Win98SE does not work, or I am doing something wrong with usb harddisks. The harddisk is a LACIE 40 GB. |

| weird that WinXP doesn't want to format it larger because FAT32 paritions can be quite big http://www.ntfs.com/ntfs_vs_fat.htm

| Correct but Microsoft wants that users use NTFS. I formatted the drive in NTFS, but this gives me security problems if it is linked to other pc's like at work (where I am not the same user). Partition Magic can format big FAT32 partitions but it is not free, and I am not going to pay for a program which I use extremely rarely. |
