XP1800 or XP1800 TB, that's the question...
 

Gonna buy me another PC. Got some folding to do and wanna play with watercooling. Now i have the option between the following two processors....

Athlon XP 1800 Desktop Model Thoroughbred Retail Box (w/Sink & Fan) # AXDA1800BOX

and

Athlon XP 1800 256K 266FSB Socket A Retail Boxed (w/Heatsink & Fan) # AXP1800BOX

Price difference is 2$. Does the one with the TB-core overclock any better or should i stick to the Palomino one? My first idea would be to go for the TB, because it's the most recent one, but i have no idea how they relate to each other in terms of overclocking.....

niweejz, got me that leadtek nforce2, didnt know there was no option to change the multi... so I'm kinda stuck there :s If they don't publish a new bios version that DOES change the multi, I'm changing the board... :) I just read that for the nforce1, there was an identical situation, and the users didnt have to wait very long... :s

I can confirm that Comtech is stocking TbredA XP1800+ CPU's

their XP2400 & XP2600 are TbredB

the XP2200 is still a TbredA..

Is there in the lower sections, XP 1800, also a difference (rev A an B), or are 1800 TB's all the same?

de TbredA zijn automatisch unlocked toch.
iedereen die ik ken met KT333 of KT400 heeft TbredA standaard unlocked.

no **** sherlock, default speed is 1533Mhz

9.5x166 = 1577Mhz

hehe k had het juist over het unlocken van de MP - want voor het oc'en verder heb ik hulp nodig precies :D

alle tbredjes zijn default unlocked op KT400/nForce2 mobo's.

JMke, misschien klein beetje offtopic.... maar heb jij een idee of die KR7A een 2000+ TB ondersteunt of niet? of zal ik moeten BIOS flashen, en hoe doe je dat zonder herkenbare CPU erin?

Tbred B's are showing up all over the place. I didn't knew the lower Tbred A's were going to be replaced so fast. :o

XP2100+ Tbred 'B': 2500mhz @ 1.85v and H²O cooling (!!!! Todb @xtreme)
XP1700+ Tbred 'B': 2200mhz @ 1.85v and volcano 7 (!!! DDTUNG @xtreme)

KR7A supports the XP2000+ without problem
check www.abit.com.tw for latest bios versions

to let higher Tbred CPU's work flawlessly on the KR7A you need the close the L3 bridge, and use higher FSB to obtain the same speeds

ik daar niets staan over of het nu een Tbred B is of Tbres A

ander vraagsken: hoeveel zijn hun shipping costs ? (k kan die precies nie vinden)

Die worden pas verrekend bij het uitchecken. Ik heb nu een order van 600 pond klaarstaan, en ik betaal 31 pond shipping, hetgeen dus best meevalt (zeker als je meerekent dat er heel wat gewicht bijzit). Als het natuurlijk is om 1 CPU'ke op te sturen, is dat niet echt haalbaar denk ik.

En van die A en B, als het over de lagere (<2200) gaat, is TB toch TB?

Do they know the difference between a trbed and a palomino ? Because probably i'm going to sent somebody else.

techn. dienst is meer op de hoogte van dzé new hardware dan 50% van mensen op dit forum :)

Comtech heeft uitsluitend Tbred Xp1800+ binnen dacht ik.
maar als ge der uitdrukkelijk achter vraagd mag dat geen probleem geven

Als de Tbred 'B' versie van de XP1700~2000+ in onze contreien beginnen op te duiken ga ik die zeker eens uitproberen! Met de Tbred A geraak je amper aan 2Ghz (logisch, aangezien de hoogste standaard TBred A 1800mhz doet), maar die B's heb ik al zien gaan tot 2200mhz met een prul koelertje en een gezond voltage!

Ik denk wel dat comtech 1 van de weinige Belgische shops is met een deftige technische dienst. :)

Ze wisten zelf dat de KR7A op stock snelheid trager was dan de meeste KT266A varianten (dankzij iets lagere PCI/AGP snelheid). Two thumbs up. :super:

met een klein beetje rondzien in het forum & de threads kan je hem wel herkennen :)

if they told you on the phone that they were out, sending somebody by to pick one up will result in the same answer , only difference is that he will be hearing it without the use of a telephone.

He had to go there for something, so it wasn't specially for ithte CPU.
