Small fans for fun

Finally got a time to make pics of the fans.
I got 8 fans and only 6 of them work without any problems.
Was a good reason for my work to throw them away.
You can find the pics here

I didn't bother to resize
You can see the fans compared to a 12cm delta, which also have thrown away by my employer. I have 3 of those.

The CFM of the delta are impressive but from the other ones even more, and off course so is the noise. If I have time I'll compare them also for the sound.

I'll have to say that I can't live with such a thing next to my ears all the time, this would purely be for benching.
You can't see it on the pics but they are 13.8VDC and 2AMP.
I only tested them on an external powersupply I have that does 13.8VDC and constant 3AMP with 5 AMP surge. So for me it was
no problem.
They have the yellow cable for monitoring so I'll try to put them to test to know exactly how much RPM they have

You will hear more from me about those fans ;)

I found some info about them monster fans
It is model A34456 or A34695. Only difference is the Voltage Range.

As I said in first post, they move alot of air, let's say 240CFM is not really bad  for a noise level of 58.6DB.

If you check the specs you can make them run on 7V which would drop the noise level alot but also the CFM.
And "only" 3350 RPM.
The only "bad" thing is that they need alot of AMP.
Dunno how much a normal PSU can give.

Someone knows that ?

240CFM, badass aircooling

AMP -> ?

Evangeliz 14th April 2003 08:50

Well they take 1.82AMP which is alot.
Dunno if you can put it extra on a normal psu. With the other HW working. Some people their pc already reboots when they put on their ccfl :D
I think this would be sweet for benchmarking only.

jmke 14th April 2003 08:53

..on a dedicated PSU :)
for benchmarking we are still waiting for the promi @ calantak ;)

Evangeliz 14th April 2003 09:00

yeah, but I mean, aircooling ;)
or you change the fan of the promi with this one

A regular power supply should have no problem powering 2~4 of those fans (& your system).

Be sure to use thick enough wires, they can get pretty hot. :)

ps: are you gonna sell a couple of those? :D

Evangeliz 14th April 2003 10:19

Yups.

3 of them are going to be sold for sure.
Only reason is to pay the bill of the "oogarts"
While removing the little of one of the broken fans(trying to fix em) I got a piece of metal in the eye. You should see me with that stupid eyeflap, well at least my eye doesn't hurt anymore.
If that covers my bill, then I will do a sort of lottery to give 1 maybe 2 of them away.
I'll see, also maybe 1 or 2 of the delta's can go away.

RichBa5tard 14th April 2003 12:01

Harrr, I hope your eye gets better soon matey! ;)

Evangeliz 15th April 2003 07:39

My eye is AOK again, really happy cause working with 1 eye on a pc really sucks.
Next thing : If someone of the [M]crew wants one, he can come and get it. I'm giving one of the fans to [M] if they want.
But you'll have to share it ;)
