Default Is this rig ok?

Hey guys...

This is my first post at these forums. w00t w00t

I'm building myself a new system. I don't have much money, so it's going to be a budget system, but I still want some decent 3DMark scores.

Here's the rig so far:

Abit NF7-S
Barton 2500+
2*512 TwinMOS PC3200 (50B chips)
Powercolor Radeon 9800 Pro 128
36GB WD Raptor (will buy another one later for RAID0)

It'll do ok, right? And much cheaper than an Intel setup.

If you think, I should change something in the rig, please let me know.

Thank you in advance.

If you are interested in a budget solution and don't mind tinkering/messing around a bit with the system I would suggest a slower rated CPU and an ATI R9800SE which you can mod to a R9800Pro with a bit of luck.

welcome to the forums!

Don't know about changing the CPU, because the Barton 2500+ is CHEAP! But please post your suggestion...

As for modding a 9800SE, I don't fancy the chance of a succesful mod, and the 9800SE only runs with a 128bit memory interface, whereas the 9800 Pro runs with 256bit memory interface.

And when going for every last 3DMark, it all counts...

I checked prijswatch and the cheapest I could get was 235€ for a 9800SE AIW, for that price you'd better immediately buy it at radeon-shop.de and you are sure it works.

On tweakers I saw a 9800SE for 198€ but also a PRO for 303€
What would be the best then?
