PCI-E bus overclocking Will overclocking my PCI-E 16x bus help my over-the-hill X850xt PE ? How high can I overclock my PCI-E safely? Can overclocking the PCI-E hurt systems stability? My chipset is NF4 intel edition. thanks! thanks! thanks! |
try 115~ 120 mhz, look if you can up your corespeeds compared to stock PCI - E |
From what I know, overclocking the PCIe bus does pretty much nothing because it is not remotely a bandwidth bottleneck. It may help marginally if you play games at very low resolutions, otherwise the advantage goes away as you increase the resolution. I say this because nVidia debuted "LinkBoost" for the nF5 chipset, which auto-overclocks the PCIe bus by 25%. Even with SLI configs it didn't improve anything by more than 2 FPS at best from the numbers I've seen. Such as here: http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Ha...1XEM2AA/6.html |

overclocking the pci-e will! give you higher corespeeds, speaking at X1800XT,7900GTX level:) |
Corespeeds? For what, you mean the GPU core?? |
i dont see how pci-e bus speed relates to corespeeds... |
only nForce5 Linkboost does that with 7900GTX http://www.nvidia.com/content/nforce...erclocking.pdf |
