Our first Gfx phace-change cooling

Today Me and Colin dated together at my place:D
he had some goodies with him.

A compressor(1/5 hp), some capillaire tube, Condensor(chilly1), and some parts for an evap and random stuff

First we started to get the evap together.
This design of evap is not original but very cost effective.
its a base of 5mm thick and i think 5cm on 5cm.

Then some small cups and bigger on top.
then between the 2 cups some nail(offcourse i am the nailmaster^^)

Here i am pointing where the holes must be drilled to present the nails.



Here you see the nails into the base ready to be brazed.

Then the first cap is getting brazed onto the base.



Then the second and bigger cap on top of the small one, and a tube on it to braze the flexible hose on it.



Flexible hose mounted, its a corrugated stainless steel hose.

Then the "mantel" around it to cover the cappilaire tube and to let it look more proffessional.



So evap is ready lets start with preparing of the main parts.
Here is a schaëder valve brazed onto the service connection of the compressor.

We made and add a desuperheater coil to absorbe the vibrations of the compressor and precool the gas that left the compressors discharge.



Then the filter drier is placed, exit pointed downwards to be sure there is 100% liquid entering the capptube.



Next thing is the tube for the suction line, there is a bend into it to to prevent liquid return to the compressor and also for vibrations a bit.



Everything is now wrapped together and ready to get vacuum.



We vacuum with an old compressor but it gets down to -1 Bar so sufficient for now.

Now we placed it onto its baseof wood that was made for it, colin sawed it to the dimentions of a vapo Ls.

We got everything ready for a vacuum and filling of the system. We got outside because the propane and a basement isn't the perfect place.



Yeah we know the suction line is long but its easier to mount it onto his R9700 pro.

System was vacuum and filled with R290.
Base was getting cold and frosted.

Then the temps, we had liquid return because the compressor suction was getting pritty cold and frost was forming.



After releasing some gas temps got better and We only cheered when we got to the maximum we got at the moment.

Allmost: (left temp is coldside of peltier, right is temp of side of the evap)




This was the coldest we got with a TEC of 50W



It was a succes and i have only one thing to say.

Colin is going to tune the system a bit this weekend.

That's what I call "work" with brain and hands + a few good tools. I have all the tools + the manifold, wish I have a decent g/f to motivate me. :D
