It is very heavy, it's a Thermaltake Skull Edition, it's thick steel :super: ...

I will just have to wait for those fans, and try it!

It's silent, but it could be improved, the xice unit makes no noise,
but the thermaltake butterfly isn't so silent, but it will be replaced with a silentmaxx fanless 423 watt psu.

Wouldn't you wait for the external passive 400 Watt psu from Zalman, it would fit nicely next to your Xice. It is also a small black box. I have read that external passive PSU's can make casetemps higher.

Any idea when this new psu will be out?

so an external heat source would heat up the inside of your case? that's like saying that you can risk increasing your casetemp if you put a hot cup of coffee next to it?

[Bonbon] 25th July 2004 23:02

he probaly means intern active psu <-> extern

jmke 25th July 2004 23:07

well duh ;) any quality internal active PSU will reduce case temps, it's the "other" job of the PSU beside providing power. case fans are not mandatory but recommended nowadays, but before the AMD Tbird/Duron became popular, all you needed was a small ALU heatsink on the CPU and 1 semi-silent PSU with 1x 80mm outtake fan.

an intern PSU can cause a better air flow, and the heat in the PSU doesn't get in the case because that airflow, so I think If there is nothing instead of a internal PSU (no fans etc) the casetemp will be hotter than in a case with PSU. But that PSU may not be passive or have a bad airflow. So In probably most cases a internal PSU will lower the casetemp. My opinion.

BTW, It's late and I probably typt a lot of faults :D

edit: Ok JMke already admitted it

ok, its still late
:D
