my new ..erm.. 'frame'

While i was browsing the web, i came across this thing:
http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/i...ideshow&iid=84
the tbcs test rig.
When i saw this i was struck by a moment of genius!
Then i realised that they did it first :grum: .

anyway, i used that very same idea in my own special way (with less i candy that is :p), and this is the result:

and the entire desk:

this thing is actually quite usefull too, i mean
-it contains my entire comp
-it can hold 2 cd-drives and up to 6 hard drives, all nicely cooled by 2 92mm fans(which are ordered and thus not yet attached)
-it has a power button (now more fidling around with a screwdriver)
-it has 2 front usb ports :D
-and finally: i don't have to take my pc apart everytime i need to move it around (!)

my former solution of just placing everything on my desk had none of these fancy features.
and this thing is in aluminum, so it's quite fashionable ;)

Have you ever considered something like this -

Make your table bigger for other junks.:)

Or something like this -

A bit heavier, but you take the "whole" thing with you.:)

laptop is out of the question, as u can't quite fiddle with it
and a case is way to crowded for my likings, even the really big ones
this way i can easily change any part of my comp. without the hassle of screw and sidepanels and stuff
yes i'm lazy :p

That's my first name :)

hehe, love no-case setups :D .
Much better than a case, it runs cooler, it looks cooler and you can cool it with less noise to get the same temps :ws: .
No dust problems, no metal problems (so far :king: )

i am in the team of case less pc's too:D

but i've got a laptop now so don't care about it:D

Sidney 27th October 2005 22:01

How can it run cooler when you put a rag under the HDD?:)
Well, we now can see two "caseless" setups.

I hate to see how the rest of your room looks:D

setup is not up anymore, dfi at rma.

and msi sold

what's this about less dust in a caseless setup ????

Think again, I got filters in front of my CASEfans to keep that sh...stuff out. And they are filthy in no time.
Still looking for an as small as possible (ATX not µ) case, looking towards an antec, but We'll see.

jort 28th October 2005 14:41

no problem of dust here, mobo was like 6 months on my desk and i had no dust what so ever:)

Sidney 28th October 2005 16:54

The way things being moved around, there is no time for the dust to settle:)

FreeStyler 28th October 2005 17:11

that's a different matter, but it's not because it all out in the open.
My server has been sucking air trough those filters for about a year now, and it shows (and I even cleaned it a couple of times)
