thx great work :) , think il get me a air cooler tomorrow to makeu guy's it as hard as i can ;)

OneyedK 23rd May 2008 14:06

Newsflash. Vmem mod seems to work, used 20k VR to ground. Used 0.2mm˛ wire.

Problem with vgpu, can't find a decent spot to solder.
Resistors too small, legs of the chip, also too small to solder on :-(
And you have to be careful, MSI printed circuits are good quality, but not great quality. (normal users don't use soldering irons on their boards I suppose)

Can someone please help looking for a good spot? It has to be connected to pin 4 of the RT8802A.

blind_ripper 23rd May 2008 14:15

tell me what i should do , msn contact : blind_ripper_@hotmail.Com

You mean vmem? It's only a tad higher with the 20kOhm VR, didn't try the limit. No cooling yet...

geoffrey 23rd May 2008 18:40

OneyedK, easy win when you're the only one vmodding :D

Blind also got busy. But it's a very difficult solder job... And crazy dangerous to rip components off...

yeah getting new condencer this noon so hope to be up and running tonight or tomorrow ;)

Jip 25th May 2008 14:57

you've succeed the hard vmod ??

Got new 2,2pF condenser on it, its rather big in size since it is a high voltage component, didn't find any low voltage sample :s Card works, well, at least it is still giving its output voltage. Tried to voltmod the card, but no success until now. Tried finding any component connected onto the FB pin but haven't found any, then I tried adjusting the load level but not much success either, small changes in voltage. Continuing my search ;)

blind_ripper 25th May 2008 20:20

hope u keep the card alive ;) , il send u back-up this week ;)

OneyedK 29th May 2008 13:27

How are the vmods coming along? I didn't have time to look into it any further...

geoffrey 29th May 2008 17:57

Blind will pay me a visit upcoming weekend, we'll try something, not sure its going to work but I think it should go well.

blind_ripper 29th May 2008 19:41

if not so i losse the 3d part by beeing the pioneer of the vmod :( and that sucks hard

geoffrey 1st June 2008 19:51

no succes here, unfortunately. Card still alive, but no voltmods. You'll have to battle it out this way, sorry boys.
You could always hook up this card to another card which can be modified, but I won't do that for you Blind/massman as the other competitors may not be able to do that. It's not my game, its yours :)

blind_ripper 1st June 2008 20:00

thx geoffrey , so no mod's no game i say . it comes to ho hase the best card and that's not really fair .

geoff send it on the post if u can as fast as u can .
have 35L ln2 ready ;)

If you are the only one who has spare parts to take power from then tell me what is most fair? If I could find modifications that everyone can clone, then I would post it, but I'm not going to help an extreme overclocker with a competition where he has most experience in. Up to you to take the victory, LN2 should help when you're card is not as good as the one of your competitors.

---
What you could do is desolder de 4 coils and use Vcore and Vmem from another card/motherboard. Should work in theory, I don't know though what will happen if both boot at different times and what happens with Power_good signals.

PS: mail me your address blind

if all three are vmodded, it comes down to the same thing:p

You already found that one right?

u need to learn more about ocing john :) .
with vmod's a good card can go bad and a bad one can go good !

done.

im not asking u to mod it , im saying IT S**KS big TIME with no vmods

not quite; if you hit the limit of your CPU/GPU at voltage X, going for voltage X+X will only get you so far; you need to understand logica Pieter |D

Jip 3rd June 2008 20:36

Massman have oyu use biosmod voltage ??

if yes can you told me the Voltage of your VGPU and VDDR ??

Me : 1,28v VGPU and 1,94v VDDR

Thanks a lot...

Massman 3rd June 2008 20:41

Blind's testing the hardware at this moment, but I'm sure he'll answer ;).

I'll post the modded bios here within the next 10 days (whenever I find the time).

blind_ripper 3rd June 2008 20:45

same vmem on the card but vgpu is 1.21 here so low :p.

the modded bios did not test it yet , no vidcard and stil own the 2d benches so :)

geoffrey 3rd June 2008 21:38

blind, card is back in its way to Brugge ;) Let the games continue!

1.22V Vgpu and 1.91V VDDR

What bios did you use to get 1.28V Vgpu?

Since my waterblock doesn't fit, I gave up on hard voltmods...
Could do with al little softmod...

Difference in measurement equipment perhaps, it will not lead to a better oc ;)

Jip 6th June 2008 10:16

perhaps in the tester ^^ because if you take te volt at "borne" the same side of connect DVI you have Xv and on the other borne you've X-0.1v +/-

No body've find for VDDR ?? because VGPU it's sucking ^^

OneyedK 6th June 2008 11:26

;-) Nothing wrong with my knowledge of electronics and measurements ;-)

vDDR (the points marked with blue are ok, 20kOhm VR to ground):

Jip 6th June 2008 12:27

you've test oneyedk's ??

because for me with pencil mod the Volt decrease :/

OneyedK 6th June 2008 14:27

How did you do the pencilmod?

geoffrey 6th June 2008 14:27

Reminds me, Blind his card lost one component, you said it was a 2nf cap but how exactly did you measure that? In circuit measurement?

Yeps... I know, not the best method, but it's consistent with the reference design schematics...

Jip 6th June 2008 16:07

i pencil the R12... The resistance at 700ohm but the volt decrease :/

Well, I had a lot of troubles booting the card with such cap soldered onto it, no problemo when I took it back off. Ow, in case you found the voltmod, there are 3 RC circuits right next to the RT8802, these are probable used for sensing current and the over-current protection. I believe I have one of the three pairs removed on Blinds card, doesn't matter if it was there or not (for normal function)

then try to pencil the resistor which is connected between R12 and ground :)

Jip 7th June 2008 12:38

at the out of R12 i've 18ohm... And the circuit stop a few far without R on the way :/

Someone have an operationnel VDDR mod ?? or its just in theory ??

in gpu i've the same score of MassMan but on Memory i'm far :(

blind_ripper 9th June 2008 17:29

now i got a vmodded card :D, problem passing 1.3vgpu on 3d and it jumps to 1.8+ to 1.9vgpu !!!!
anyone can find out why the hell its doing this ???
