I'm sick of this crappy aircooling

Ieps,

I'm getting addicted to silent pc's, but also to fast ones...

I have an slk800 + papst@7V at my cpu and it's silent enough, but it should not be louder in any way. As casecooling I use 2x 120mm papst fans.
With my cpu@ 2.1ghz@1.65V the stresstemp is about 47°.
Good enough, but I want more speed without more noise...
I'm planning to buy a new case, the AopenH600B. I love the looks and it's possible to make something of it.

I was planning to buy a new heatsink and place a 120mm fan on it (with fanduct) but now I see that the case would not have enough room. So I'm looking for something else.

I found this cooler at mpl, but I can't find any reviews of it. Would it perform good with a slow-fan? And which power-supply should I buy for powering my system and that peltier?
(Heatsink Swiftech MCX462+ T Socket 462 AMD Athlon XP air cooler with build-in Peltier )

Other solutions are always welcome, but watercooling and phase changed cooling are not an option.

link to cooler doesn't work

Fixed.
Thx.

peltier aircooling.. hmmm, don't do it.

I mean with the pelt.

review Swiftech MCX462+T
:)

Vulk 7th March 2004 13:02

I used Swiftech MCX462+T + review and he didn't find a thing.
Thx.

With the MCX462+T, installed...the results in my opinion were amazing. The thermal drops where a consistent 12/13c on both load and idle temps. One important thing to remember that the heat doesn't just vanish. the heat from the 220W TEC and the CPU have to go somewhere. That usually ends up being the ambient air inside the case. If you plan to use this form of extreme cooling, you will certainly be needing above average air circulation for your case. Otherwise, temperatures inside will rise and will diminish the cooling potential of this system.
a lot of airflow = not silent

I did notice, however, that the heatsink gets extremely warm so it is very important that you bolt a very well meaning 80mm fan to the top of it. I used the Vantec Tornado to do the required job

Vulk 7th March 2004 13:13

Crap.
Nex solution is placing a 120mm fan on top of my slk800, but that's nearly impossible.

TeuS 7th March 2004 16:03

1. good TEC aircooling a CPU is only possible with HUGE fans.
2. everything's possible :p

Vulk 7th March 2004 16:19

I think I will be seeing you in the next holiday.
I'm planning to buy the h600B, place a 120mm blowhole in the bottom like my hq08 now. The standard fangrills will have to be removed and replaced. And then I want a 120mm fan on my cpu.
We try a fanduct and otherwise a 120mm blowhole won't hurt I guess.

Tum0r 7th March 2004 16:38

find a way to make a fanduckt so u can place a 120mm fan on your slk

u can use a broken 80mm fan to clip it on the base of the fanduct and then a 120mm on top (dont build to high)

using a airduct above the cpu so it sucktt cold air outside the case will give a difference as I imagine your case is rather warm

get the best thermal paste u can will help

Vulk 7th March 2004 16:56

I will try to make a fanduct this week. :)
My casetemp is very good imo, 23° with a roomtemp of 19°.

TeuS 7th March 2004 17:09

I'll take care of everything, don't worry ;)

where is the casetemp measured?

Vulk 7th March 2004 18:47

Good question, the standard monitor on the Asus A7nx-x I guess.

187(V)URD@ 9th March 2004 21:44

I have a slk7 cooler with regelbare 80mm cooler @ 2500RPM but i can't remember the name.

CPU AMD XP2400+@2200MHZ met 1.75V

Temp stressed = 42°C

greetz

IKilledMyAGOIA 10th March 2004 06:48

Redneck fan duct = flexible dryer hose

worked for me. but turned out to be too much of a hassle, just having a 120mm papst @ 12v on top of a fairly quiet tt sf2 @ 3750 (with no grill) keeps me at a steady 51-56 depending on the ambient

yeah, i chucked the "stay below 45" motto way back after i cranked it to 1.7vcore and decided i value my ears

Vulk 10th March 2004 06:54

My cpu ain't stable above 54° when overclocked. ;)
But I guess I will place a 120mm blowhole above my cpu.

Vulk 14th March 2004 12:54

Hmz, I'm thinking of h2o-again.

This is what I would buy:

H700B
Watercool HTF2-Dual
Watercool HTF2-Dual aperture
CCR 05 chipset watercooler Rev.3
InnovaGraph-O-Matic Rev 2
Zalman ZM-WB2 copper CPU waterblock
Pump Attachment Kit (Velcro)
Eheim 1048 Centrifugal pump
AGB-O-Matic - for Eheim 1046/1048
Standard PVC tube 8x1
Standard PVC tube 8x1
innovaProtect Corrosion protection

=424Euro.

TeuS 14th March 2004 13:09

- no velcro attachment. use silentblocks (entkoppelungsset)
- pics of the blocks?
- don't order tubing there, takes too much space in the package.

I guess the next 4 will perform equally, but I'm wondering which one is the easiest to instal with this grill.

They al cost 50EUR, except for the second one, which costs 65Eur.

[Bonbon] 15th March 2004 15:54

use zipties if there are no holes for the fans. doesn't look as clean , but it will work
