EDIT: I love these ghetto pics, we should get a ghetto picture competition next time instead of oc-compo :)

im sure that the water temps will be arround -20°C after a half hour i hope.
just to hit u G.

hitting surface will be greater then u wc blok i know that for sure.

maybe il mount it on the vapo :D , that sucker go's from normal temps to -51°C in about under a min :p .

Is that the Jort Phase Change? :p

blind_ripper 21st October 2008 08:42

yes it is , the colin unit FTW!
maybe sick idear but hell il try to mount the cascade when its done ;)

edit: ah the final temps where -33°C on the bloks , after a half hour our so ;)

Cascade? What's the use, everything will freeze over at -20~30°C anyway unless you go for 100% ethanol cooling liquid, just don't get drunk during your experiments :) Even then, with evap temps far beyond the freezing point of ethanol it won't be of much use. It is not said that a pump will still function at such extreme temperatures, it mechanical and it is very likely you may damage it. Then again, if you really want super chilled temps, try dry ice instead :)

blind_ripper 21st October 2008 17:09

almost half hour running time and near sub-zero ;) .

mix i used it 70% anti-freeze and 30% H2O ;)

will post when it gets freezing :D

blind_ripper 21st October 2008 20:07

project at its and , with a single stage u wont hit lower then -6°C water temps i think tested with colin unit and vapo .
same **** and the end , maybe bigger condencer and heavy compresser are key parts :D

-6°C? That's weak, I could hit same temps with the waterchiller I build few years ago, but as you can see everything frost over as well :)

You might want to insulate few things and actually have a pump running so there the water is being chilled constantly. Will try to do more tests later, no time at this moment.
