well, i was bored and did a fast mod, HD window on a Quantum 500MB .

worktime: 10min's
tools used: Drill, handsaw, screwdriver




btw, the window is very clear, what's not viewable on the pic by the flash

there seems to be a little space between the plexi and the enclosure, isn't that dangerous for dust?

And does the hd still work?

if I were you, I'd mod that thing into your case & give it 12v, then find a way to send commands to it so the head moves over the disk. I've seen it done before.
