Grafic card temp

Hi, how warm can (may) a grafic card get?
My Hercules 9800 xt is showing about 55° with a Zalman ZM80C-HP and ZM-OP1 (on 12V). Is this normal or not?

Greetz,

:ws:

This is quite good actually, graphic cards usually get hotter then cpu's but they can take it too :)

I believe Cranox once said that modern day vidcards can go up to 80-90° without burning up and without becoming instable.

My GF 4 Ti 4200 is now 58°, roomtemp is 20°. stressed it is 65°. So it's normal, those high temps?

jmke 1st November 2004 15:12

yes; videocards chips, for now, have higher temp limits then your CPU chip

Sidney 1st November 2004 15:21

Since I have two new cards; awaken from the dark age of R9000, I fee like telling the temps.:)

ChainTech SA5900XT 488/776 41C and 56C stressed
ATI 9600XT 600/702 33C and 45C stressed

jmke 1st November 2004 15:24

37°C here on the Chaintech FX5900XT, does yours still have stock cooling?

Sidney 1st November 2004 15:28

Stock cooling; stock paste everything untouched @23 C room.

Sidney 1st November 2004 15:30

Using BFG BIOS.

jmke 1st November 2004 15:31

still got that P4 setup? might have a little duel of the Vidcard OC then? :)

equal mobo/cpu/ram setup, pure GFX & OS tweaks? :)

Sidney 1st November 2004 15:36

Yes, still have the P4 2.8C @3.43
IC7/Apacer PC3200 1:1 @245

But, the 9600XT seems to run smoother than the FX5900 when oc'ed.
AXP 2600+ M/ 215*11.5/ 9600XT 600/702.:)

ti4200 @ 28°C idle.

cooling = stock amd heatsink

jort 1st November 2004 19:58

x800 xt watercooled
idle =>32°
stressed => 40°

Stock Cooling; case panel close; no fuss computing.:)
Bottom line there is no worry.

How to cool motherboard to prevent capacitor from leaking?
Turn your house A/C on 24/7.:D

the FX5900XT @488/777 scored 1156 3DMark05 while the 9600XT @600/351 scored 1852.

jmke 2nd November 2004 15:39

only true fun benchmark is 3DMark2001 in my humble opinion, where system tweaks DO make a difference:)

Sidney 2nd November 2004 15:49

Ok, but the 9600XT is more fluid than the FX5900XT running 3DMark05 which I don't get.;)
I'm going to post the screen shots of the two. Got all the pics.

ATI > nVidia in 3DMark03 with latest drivers afaik

Desert Eagle 4th November 2004 00:11

My 6800GT runs @ 45°C, and it has some kind of temperature warning system (standard locked@ 120°)
I remember temps of 85° and more on 9700 Pro !
I think the only thing you need to do, is keep the heat extracted from the core.

my CoolTech UltraBlock GPU keeps my radeon x800pro vivo @
XT PE at same temps, cpu and northbridge in line too. waterblock killed my radeon 9500np @ 9700pro though, because i tightened the screws a bit too much :p

banana 20th November 2004 21:03

That's what a heatsink does.:)

So, temp is not your problem; how much OCing?

Falco 29th December 2004 11:49

Can it be that the AGP version of the 6600Gt does'n have a TEmp probe?
