CPU 3,2Ghz to hot? Hello Peeps, I just installed a Abit IC7-MAX3 motherboard with a Intel 3,2Ghz CPU and with a Zalman cooler. Board: http://www.luckyspc.com/images/producten/14237b.jpg Cooler: http://www.luckyspc.com/images/producten/12515b.jpg When I get in Bios, and check PC Health I have a CPU temp of 60°C (idle) Is this to hot? I think this cooler was one of the best... When I play Battlefield 1942 the temp raise to almost 67°C. Yes the cooler is installed correctly and yes I used coolpaste. Please help... Greetz Speedy |
What is your casetemp and roomtemp? |
Casetemp: 33°C Roomtemp: +-20°C Screenshot: http://users.skynet.be/Speedy/temp.jpg Idle -> 55°C ie. Word, Explorer, ... -> 62°C Games -> 68°C |
pretty high temps with such a roomtemp imagine your cputemp in the summer with a roomtemp of +30°C |
ic7 max 3 measures 15°C too high. |
And is it a prescott ? edit, yes it is :) |
+ it is a prescott :) thank you for buying a furnace :) |

Nothing said about it @ the site of Abit. |
look in the forums :) |
quite sure yes. perfectly same setup with whitewater block at 3.5 ghz same voltage, roomtemp 18°C, casetemp 20°C on asus p4c800 : stressed coretemp 33°C on dfi : stressedcoretemp 34°C on abit ic7max3 : 40-45°C |
My P4P800 is about 10C lower than IC7. Then, I have two IC7's, one is higher than the other by 15C. One of the IC7 (the lower reporting one) is the same as the IS7. I believe Abit uses two different vendors on their boards, sometimes they are just off with each other. In this case, BIOS updates wouldn't do anything. I suspect also the Asus board is reporting a bit low. I am simply using the best C/W of any cooler or w/c and judge whether it makes any sense. Unless, the W/C has below 0.15 C/W, which means 100 Watts heat dissipation yiedls 15C, add ambient 20C equals 35C including TIM and case temp factors. |
