Core 2 duo

hey guys,

I would like to know why the e6750 is cheaper than the e6700 and e6600?

In AUS dollars

E6600 4 MB L2 2.40 GHz 1066 MHz FSB $295
E6700 4 MB L2 2.66 GHz 1066 MHz FSB $405
E6750 4 MB L2 2.66 GHz 1333 MHz FSB $245

Sorry if it is a dumb question

Hey there, it's a good question, the E6750 is a newer CPU, based on 1333FSB, and that CPU intel is pushing to sell; so they have introduced nice price-cuts for these series , while the older ones like E6700/E6600 are being phased out.

So basicly with the new fsb speed it should be a winner?

Thanks mate

the higher FSB bumps performance a tiny bit (~2%)

[quote]Overall, the 1333MHz FSB doesn't do much for dual core processors. Over the 20 benchmarks we sampled for this chart, the 1333MHz FSB gave us an average improvement of 1.9% over the 1066MHz FSB. There are two unique outliers in the chart: Oblivion with a 6.1% improvement and Photoshop CS3 with an 11.2% increase in performance. Both of these benchmarks are hand timed so the variance between runs is greater than normal, and we suspect that may be the reason for some of the larger than normal impact of the faster FSB but after multiple subsequent runs we were left with the same results[/quohttp://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/intel/showdoc.aspx?i=3012&p=2te]
