Conroe-L, any body has some experience with it ?

No ? I have.

Just bought me a Asus p5K paired up with an Celeron 420 (1,6 Ghz, 800 gsbn 512 kb cache). First test gives me already 2,8 Ghz on air, not too much voltage increasements. A superpi score of 25 seconds on the 1 M calculation.

A64 3500+ needs 3363Mhz
Pentium 4 641 needs 5208Mhz
Pentium M 170 Dothan needs 2857Mhz

should have opted for E2160 ;)

for 25 sec, E2160 is at ~2500Mhz

E6300 does better, only needs 2100Mhz

Running at 3120 Mhz, that's almost a 100% overclock, on air now. Giving 22,6 seconds.

Not half that bad actually. I'll do some last tests now and then go to bed :-)

Update:

Max fsb reached: 397
Meaning max clockspeed is: 3176
This was with memory speed of around 495 Mhz Cas 4-4-4-10
This was on air of course, giving me a superpi 1 M of: 21,0x seconds

Got E2140 coming; don't have the board to do the job; may be Gigabyte P35 cheapo version for $86.
If I could get to the same as piotke that will be 2X ;)

jmke 3rd August 2007 08:34

How much did you pay for the Celeron 420 ?

piotke 3rd August 2007 10:21

About 35 euro.

jmke 3rd August 2007 10:47

you got your money's worth, now to find a motherboard which allows a nice OC and doesn't cost €50+

piotke 3rd August 2007 12:27

E6120 at 3,1 Ghz is immediately 19,4 sec

jmke 3rd August 2007 12:47

do you mean E2160 ?

piotke 3rd August 2007 12:56

Sorry, E2160 it is :)

Problem with this chip is the FSB wall in de chip, the 397 mhz with 1,5 and 1,7 Vcore just the same. Mobo has proven to go over 485.

With a vapochill LS this chip does about 3350, giving a 418 Mhz FSB, phase not worth the trouble here in my humble opinion.

No better than lower speed here:), and cheaper yet.

Mowbow?

EDIT: P5K? What about using setFSB?

piotke 11th September 2007 19:57

Mowbow ?

Using SetFSB already.
