Case w/filer and power-on button at top? I'm about to put together my third PC. This time I want an inexpensive ATX mid-tower case with a washable filter and the power-on and reset buttons near the top of the front of the case. Is there such a case? I'll have my own 600w power supply and 2 fans but I'd buy the case if it came with two fans. Ideally I'd be able to remove and wash the filter from the front. I have a cat who loves to lay on my lap while I work (lots of dander and fur). Thanks, Kerry I'm not a gamer or an overclocker, I just like being able to choose my own components. |
Codegen used to make ATX server cases with top (front) power and reset but no filter which you can fabricate yourself with foam. They were very inexpensive. |
Hi lazyman, Thanks, I'll check them out. Kerry |

Coolermaster Stacker also, but more expensive;) |
Thanks jmke. Even the Antec 900 was out of my price range. Guess I'll get an old one out of the closet and build a filter. I'll know more once the MOBO and power supply arrive. Kerry |
Read the review of the Coolermaster Mystique 632. It has the features you want and I just saw it at SVC.com for 69.99$, may be less somewhere else. I just bought the 631 on clearance at SVC.com for 24.95$ + S&H. It doesn't have the power button on top but you can buy them for 3-5$ and it should go nicely next to the Firewire & USB ports that are on top. The sale lasts til Oct. 31st and I won't get mine til the 1st Nov. so I can't tell you for sure. Good luck. |
i like the front plane :naughty: |
I ended up using my old tall-tower (nice looking) Compaq Presario 5716 case. Temps hover around a nice cool 39° C. The start button is midway down the front but not too much of a reach. Hey Kerry, If you live in the US, check out the Rosewill R5605 case at Newegg. I owned the 5604 for some time and really liked it - the 5605 is my current preference, but the 5604 is at the best price right now with free shipping. The whole 5600 series has the features you listed but only the 5601 and 5605 have the 270 degree door that opens flat against the side of the case. The 5601 can only take a floppy drive in the external 3.5" bay while the others can handle any 3.5" bay device. The same cases have been available in Europe and elsewhere under the Yeong Yang brand. .bh. |
