can't raise the fsb?????

I have an nf7-s with a 2500 barton cpu. My system is watercooled and temps @ stockspeeds are 42° after 8 hours folding.
I got 2 sticks of 256 Mb corsair xms 3200 cas2 today and I can't overclock anymore. With my previous sticks corsair valueselect 3200 I could easily reach 210 fsb.

But now when I raise the fsb 1 Mhz and reboot I get nothing on my screen. not even my vidcard boot screen.

????????

I flashed the bios to the most recent one, same thing.:grum:

Only other change I made to my system during switch of the ramsticks is my hd's one maxtor 80 gig out, two seagte 120 in.
I once got a message that the molex to may radeon 9800 wasn't connected but it was. A simple reboot and that problem was gone. :gay:

problem is I can't overclock my cpu anymore:puke:

tried running the ram relaxed ?

maro 12th July 2004 12:48

meaning cas3?
The ram should be able to run 400 fsb at cas2, no? those are it specs??

Will try cas 3 now..., hope' you're right

edit: I called the one I bought the sticks from, he said he once put one of the sticks upside down in the slot. I guess one of the sticks is f*d up. If I boot with only stick A I can push the fsb skyhigh, with stick B only stock speeds. grrrr

edit2: one of the connector strips of the faulty stick is black, as if burned, know what I mean, Is it a good idea to try to get the black off the copperstrip or do I try to go for the warranty? I still got 35 months of waranty.

OK problem solved: cleaned the "bad" stick and switched stick one with stick two.

cpu is know running 11x200. Let's see how high we can go.

There are some bios settings I don't know the meaning off: (I'll go straight to the faq but if there's someone that can't constrain himself and explains ...)

cpu disconnect function (currently enabled)
cpu interface currently disabled (bios says disabled is recommended for overclocked settings??)

I've read somwhere that the spread spectrum is best set to 0 for both agp and fsb, is that correct?

maro 12th July 2004 14:09

I'm not there yet, I only got to boot with 200 fsb once, once I tried with fsb 205 he again gave nothing to my screen anymore. Only remedy is cmos reset and 166fsb. Anything else doesn't work. Guess I'll have to use the warranty on the one stick.

If they're stable @ 200 Mhz (test it with memtest 86), there's no reason for RMA.

maro 12th July 2004 18:06

And if they're stable, then the mobo is causing probs? Or could it be the psu because of the weird 'molex not connected to my radeon' prob I once had?

maro 13th July 2004 07:47

I ran memtest 3 times without errors. Does that mean my mobo doesn't like high fsb's anymore???:(

That's no problem, seen it alot after I disassembled my pc ;).

Lower your multiplier and then raise your FSB 1 Mhz at a time, start @ relax timings. Perhaps you can test the sticks separately....
