broke my VX memory again Today I broke my ocz pc4000 vx gold memory again (3th time for whoever may care). Everything was going fine till I reached the limit of my memory at 3,2volt. So I decided to move that jumper which allows me to increase my Voltage till 4V (got a DFI lanparty UT sli-D mobo). ocz gives a warranty till 3,5v so I didn't saw any problems. Now I booted my PC still with 3,2volt and the jumper to allow me to go till 4volt. But something unexpected happened, My memory gave me uncountable errors in memtest while I didn't changed my setting or my ram voltage. Is it possible that moving the jumper broke my mobo/ram. And is it safe to replace the ram with my reserve (jumper is back to original place) so I can use my PC again? |
note that when setting the jumper to 4v, and not changing anything in the bios, the actual voltage drops a bit. Maybe it's enough to make it unstable? |

CMOS reset, 200MHz 2,5-3-3-8 1T/2T 2,6v-3,2v all give errors. memory is broken for sure, dunno if mobo is broken but I just read this is a common problem that ram gets broken when moving the jumper, there is a mod for it, but I'm not sure if it will work because I don't know if my mobo is broken too or not. |
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ad.php?t=61632 using the 4V jumper killed some mem by some people. |
