crap :)

can ocz handle it ?

256Mb OCZ PC3200 Gold Revision 2

--> any good ?

RichBa5tard 9th November 2003 17:33

No idea which chips OCZ PC3200 use, but if it's affordable it's not based on BH-5. :)

BH-5 based modules still being sold:
Muskin Enhanced Black Level II PC3200 / 3500 (300 euro for 2*256mb)
HyperX PC3500 (?)
OCZ ??? (check xtreme, not yet in production)

Most likely they will use either CH-5 or BH-6.

the ocz will be cheaper than the corsair for me :)

how much CH5 chips handle?couldn't find a thread at XS;)

@DaBoka: are you fully aware that removing the HS will void warranty :p

Ow_jeih 17th November 2003 01:11

my 2*256MB Mushkin PC3500 did 230FSB (2.0-3-3-6)@3.1V

but never ran @ 2.0-2-2-* (i started to feel it was CH-5)
so i removed the HS, and idd, CH-5 :(

@Vegeta: 3.3V will do the trick no? :D

but don't think you'll get rid of those 2.0-3-3-* timings :grum:

@ this moment the best ram is:
Mushkin PC3200/3500 lvl 2
Corsair PC2700/PC3200 Low Latency

my girlfriend does 220FSB (2.0-2-2-11) with Corsair PC2700 LL, prolly goes even higher, but she's happy ;)

anyway, don't buy more then PC3500, the rest is for Intel

Even for Intel you're better of running 4/5 5-2-2 cl2 than 1/1 8-3-3 cl3 at high fsb.

FreeStyler 17th November 2003 11:37

with intel it's just the divider that makes the speed. The 4/5 with low latencies and even higher speeds would be even better.

Latencies over 200MHz on intel are barely a factor. It's just past the point of diminishing returns. At 800MHz speeds, what's an extra cycle going to do. Especially since intel appears to be running better with the memory a bit slower.
