Well, I'll be the first to point it out, but in RMAing something you broke, you're wronging the company to whom you're returning the "defective' merchandise.

Not only do some of you do this, but you ADVERTISE your actions and PROMOTE them to others! MY GOD! What is wrong with this?

Did it ever occur to those guilty of this action that SOMEBODY has to pay for it? Just because you avoid the cost doesn't mean somebody else won't. In the end of the RMA loop, somebody pays.

Let's say AMD takes the hit, just in case I'm wrong. Newegg sends them back to AMD and AMD says, "We'll reimburse you" or something like that. So now AMD took a hit. But guess what? They know that. So what do they do?

They raise to prices on CPUs, on retail products, and then vendors hike up their prices, not only to cover the increased cost of obtaining the processor or video card, but because they're losing money too, so they increase their mark up. Who pays for that? We do . . .

jort 5th August 2008 13:51

Jmke is right about this one but how many people do rma broken stuff...
I know if everybody acts that way nothing changes.

grtz

jmke 5th August 2008 14:04

with great speed comes great responsibility. If you know you broke the hardware by your actions, it's not the right thing to do to try and force RMA :/

jort 5th August 2008 14:33

correct john :)

blind_ripper 5th August 2008 16:10

only once got a bad rma :) , great speed thing LOL .
i pay for the card so why should i not rma it :) , they cant just say no if they dont have a reason ?

jmke 5th August 2008 16:37

Blind, you broke the card by abnormal use... you know that. By doing an RMA for a product which you broke, you'll drive up the price

blind_ripper 5th August 2008 17:19

lol and u believe that **** if i can call it that ?

blind_ripper 5th August 2008 18:54

zal em al nie rma'en zucht

jmke 5th August 2008 19:13

if you're sure that the card is not broken due to your actions RMA is valid for sure. But if you think that you might have caused the card to stop working....

Massman 5th August 2008 22:47

To RMA broken hardware is a matter of personal choice. Some people are heavily against it, some people just don't care if they'll have to pay 10€ more next time, because they'll just buy another (cheaper) card. The world is filled with this kind of dilemma's, I don't see why this one would be more bad than, for instance, download one MP3 file or throw away a little bit of food because you're not hungry anymore or drive a bit faster on the freeway.

jmke 6th August 2008 08:09

it all depends Massman, if you download an MP3 you know you are taking a risk and should not be surprised of the consequences.

@Blind: like I said, if you feel that you did not (volt)mod this card to death and it died under normal operating circumstances an RMA is no issue; but is that what happened? Only you know.

geoffrey 6th August 2008 11:47

Always be responsible for your own actions, if the accident happened because of your fault then you should be the one to blame, not others. I don't know if it will really drive up the price, but at least have respect to the company you bought your goods from.

If the mayonnaise was mixed up with ketkchup at someone's home, to 'improve' its taste, would RMA be an issue then? :)

Massman 7th August 2008 09:26

Double the thread title and know what the [M]-team is equipped with.

geoffrey 7th August 2008 11:47

Why are you posting this in public? :)

jmke 7th August 2008 11:50

having 2xHD4870 in CF is secret? ;)

Massman 7th August 2008 11:54

Teasing, G, teasing ;-)

jmke 7th August 2008 11:57

Most G's are for teasing yes :)

jort 7th August 2008 15:26

Loooool :D

blind_ripper 7th August 2008 19:24

john could u not get a more nice looking *** ? that one is like euhm not so jummy :D

jmke 7th August 2008 19:29

I said most were, never said that one was.

blind_ripper 7th August 2008 19:53

u got a point there thought :D

Massman 7th August 2008 20:20

I'd give my points to Blind's comment, though. No matter what you said, there are way more saucier photo's to be used as a main example of G-teasing.

jmke 7th August 2008 20:21

your vote has been written and down and filed next to the "I care about Britney Spears" file:p

Massman 7th August 2008 20:28

A wild guess here, but I reckon you don't really like Britney? If that's the case, I can conclude that it's more likely that the file will vanish into dust than it ever to be opened in order to solve the problem.

jmke 7th August 2008 20:34

what problem are you referring to?

Massman 7th August 2008 20:36

This problem:
