For all you WC-setup geeks, I need your knowledge What do I need to pelt-cool my gpu with a watercooling setup loop only used for gpu? what's the best parts. It needs to be compact without losing too much performance gimme ur thoughts |
:ice: :ice: thats a nice setup RB :ws: |
what about this ? Got a question: just for vidcard cooling, which order? pump -> rad -> wb -> pump or pump -> wb -> rad -> pump ? I'm guessing the first? |
The Swiftie looks good and may perform OK, but it has 2 major downsides: - alu housing: conducts heat twice as bad as copper. It's not a good idea to mix copper rads with alu waterblocks either. - the hollow "room" inside conducts heat far less efficient than a channel like in most waterblocks. OPP gave it a good review, but he has little experience with vidcard WB's and he didn't compare it to another... so excuse me for being a little sceptic. :) @fredperry: doesn't make any noticable difference if you use a small reservoir. |
I'll be using inline setup I'll be using these components : disadvantage: Cu + alu rad :( advantage: cheap :) So I'll need WW (Any other more commenly used products I can use? ) ps. sorry calantak for "stealing" your thread ;) |
Use antifreeze, it 'll prevent bacterial growth (or ice in use with waterchiller). That rad looks like one bad mofo. :D |

I'll be buying a wc setup soon. but It'll probably have to fit on a radeon 9700. what I'll do is buy the whole setup and let them deliver it to one of you WC-geeks. So that I can come by and have some explanations, coz WATER+ME = weird effects or I'll try and tap off my hose from the prometheia :-) |
a second hand vapochill could do the trick.... vapochill = 100-110 watt, so this should be enough for that R 9700. maybe I'm selling mine .... |
On second thought, maybe you could buy this rad: Heattransformer dual (70€ @low-noise.de) Kicks Black Ice Butt |
Doesn't seem necessary to start another thread , so I'll post it here: Has anyone ever heard of this shop: www.watercooling.be ? |
@ richbastard: about the CU + Al part, as long as those two materials don't have physical contact you r ok. example: Al reservoir with Cu fittings screwed in -> TROUBLE Al reservoir with Brass fittings (or plastic or whatever non metalic thing) -> hose -> Cu Rad -> Cu WB -> NO PROBLEM i was sceptical about it as well, but i asked some experts on the field of coolingtechniques (non pc related) and they said there was no problem with mixing different types of metal as long as they don't physically touch eachother. mot: i'm using a Al rad and Maze3 and BI Xtreme atm |
