Abit nf7-s2g overclocking prob.

Hi,

I've got a problem with the Abit nf7-s2g motherboard. The maximum stable cpu frequenty that I can get out of my 2500+ barton is 2407mhz. Now, that really dissapoints me, is the nf7-s2g really a bad overclocker or is it my hw.

-2* takems 256 mb ddr400 @ 219 and 5-3-3-3
-Ahtlon xp 2500+ barton
-Abit nf7-s2g (duh)
-9800 pro

Well, my cpu is currently running at 31°C and stressed it will not go over 33°C (custom wc)
Chipset has good ventilation and the vcontrollers too. Now, the voltage of my cpu is raised to the maximum 1.92V :( (pretty weak) , ltd is @ the max and ram voltage @ 2.8V.
Is'nt there a bios update that can me more volts or something ?

Hmm, I was just about to buy one. It would have a 3000+barton. Guess I'll better do some reading before choosing the sg over the s version...

the NF7 S2G is a bad overclocker. http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?pag...&item=41&num=2

its not that mobo
this is the one ;)

stand corrected. still for an unmodded Abit mobo 219 FSB is not that bad. to go higher you need vmod for the northbridge and better cooling also other BIOS' etc

if you want to make sure it is your mobo; you'll need an unlocked CPU and relax the timings on the memory; that will allow you to discover the max FSB of the board

jort 25th October 2004 19:47

cpu is unlocked, but cannot change the MP
maybe i'll put my ram in it.

he did a bios update, whith no succes
(yes there is one=> cas setting was 2.5, 3.0 now there is 2.0 added)

jmke 25th October 2004 19:55

I'm talking about NF7 modded BIOS's :)

jort 25th October 2004 20:18

ah and they can be found @:king:

did some searching on abit fora,
and it is a bad oc'er

but if there can be a mod done, maybe that would be interesting :D

jmke 25th October 2004 20:21

Ok, had this one.... tested it, had my fun with it... and maxed it out.
New motherboard, wich brand? Model ?
It has to be very good overclockable without modding it (I mean, that it does not has to be vmodded or stuf.... other cooling offcourse, standart ? what is that ? :p )
I was thinking about the Epox 8rda+ series....
Any suggestions for other types of brands ??

DFI NF2 Infinity; out of the box it comes with a lot more voltage options, and will not max out that quickly with the correct BIOS

more info on this killer AXP board at http://www.dfi-street.com/bios.html

(DFI also has a killer S754 board btw)

kristos 26th October 2004 19:45

even for an infinity that's a very good price

I've seen the infinity at about 90-100 €

and the lanparty at 140-1** €
