| How high can you get your GT? Mine purs fine in a HTPC case (silent/passive cooling) at 540 / 900. : ) Combined with a Amd Turion 1.6Ghz it makes a great choice for a gaming HTPC.

| did you see this: http://www.evga.com/community/messag...TOPIC_ID=14558 apparantly the voltage regulators on the 7900GT can overheat quickly (80°C+) and cause problems

| Don't get me worried. : ) I've got a zalman VF700 which blows a bit of air on the pcb, in contrary to the default (noisy) cooler. Hope that helps.

| it's on the REAR side of the card... your VF700 doesn't help one bit and what's more; that VF700 might actually perform WORSE than stock cooling as that product is meant for MIDRANGE video cards, VF900 is for high end

| memory on Club3D I got up to 900Mhz (660mhz default) and core up to 570mhz (450Mhz default); not bad at all, better than Sparkle 7900GT which I got to 550Mhz on Core and ~820 on memory. but end result in games/benchies between those two overclocks is not very big got eVGA now in for testing, stock clocks 580Mhz(!) on core and 700+ on memory

I believe them as it keeps the gpu core cooler than the stock fan.

| what brand do you have? on 7800GT the VF700 performed worse in a low airflow case split of this discussion to seperate thread the cooling of the Sparkle 7900GT Caliber kicks serious ***, silent and high performance, also covers the memory chips;

| XXX 7900GT Extreme Edition or sth, 520 / 750 stock. It used the noisy reference cooler, i didn't know there were already brands out there that used a custom cooler. I know the VF700 is suitable for seriously overclocking a 7900GT, but with the fan running at 5V, it keeps the temperature of the core a little bit lower than the stock cooler... so you can can't call it 'unsuitable'. PS: i have a very low airflow aircase, no intakes, 2*80mm at 5V out.

| cooler on Sparkle Caliber even at 25% fan speed core remains chilly and it's at least as loud/noiseless as VF700@5v compared to that XFX cooler, it's a monster http://www.overclock3d.net/reviews.p...3&id=53&page=3
