zalman multi connector 1 and papst 8412 N/2GL Can the Zalman multi connector 1 and the 80 mm case fans of papst type 8412 N/2GL be used on the 5 v - mode (silent mode)? On the specifications it is mentioned that fans having a start up voltage of more than 5 V can not be used. The fans are 12V . Has anyone experience with putting papst fans at 5 V. |
Hmmm... i have two of those papst fans on my rheobus. At ~5V one of them sometimes won't start. I think you'd be safer running them at 7V. |

I just tested them on 5 V, the papst turns so slowly that there is almost no airflow, the noise must come from in the case, has anyone a solution. Out side the case at 12 v they make no noise at all, has anyone a solution, the case is a Lian-Li 6070 so it is already equiped with dampening material, although I think it could use a lot more. |
what HD ? |

I suspect the Papst fans transmit a lot of vibration to the case, I have just ordered some Vantec Dampener kits to remove vibration of my 80 mm case fans. |
