Watercooling?

Hello, my cpu is currently being cooled by a Thermalright SLK900 + Papst 92mm fan @ 12V, and I think it's still too loud. ( Yes I'm crazy I know :D )

Now after reading a lot on forums, I am very tempted to try watercooling... Seems like a lot of fun.

My needs : QUIET and I mean complete and utterly SILENT operation. ( Don't plan on overclocking... ).

My question : Will watercooling satisfy my needs? I can hardly believe this because there is still a fan needed to cool down the rad, AND there is a pump that will be making sound. From what I've read the Eheims are pretty good, but how silent are they really? Will I hear it *ronking* ( don't know how to translate ;) ) like in an aquarium?

If my needs can be satisfied, is there an interesting set, that is not too expensive? ( Silent pump, 120mm fan, cpu (p4) cooler, tubing, reservoir, rad ; Vid card cooler not needed ) Eg from www.Watercooling.de

Thx a lot!

Greetz,
Tremor.

PS : Expect more questions :)

* an eheim 600l/h is easy to make unhearable (as in: you don't hear if it's on or off), same goes for the 1200l/h. do the teflon mod and use silent blocks

* take a Papst or panaflo fan, the most silent one you can get and give it a low voltage or use a rheobus

watercooling can be quite cheap, but if you want silence you'll have to get quality stuff so it won't be "cheap"

how 'bout
Entkoppelungsset für Eheim Pumpen
€6.90

Eheim 1048 Kreiselpumpe
€47.90

Pumpenbefestigung (Klett)
€2.90

CPU: dunno, never used one of those before

this papst fan is dirt cheap and very silent,
*Papst Lüfter 120x120x25*
€19.90

or perhaps this one:
Titan Aluminium Lüfter 120x120x25*
*€16.90*

innovatek has some passive H2O rads.
These are free standing "structures" of about 50CM high.

check Com-tra (H2O) . They have some very cheap coolers and sweet rad's.

Full coper :o

Costs you €70, but this can work w/o a fan :ws: .

Uhm... That last rad is a bit overdone imo
Where do you put that thing??

Anywho, Tues' stuff looks nice.

So what do I need exactly? :

Entkoppelungsset für Eheim Pumpen ( what's the use of this? :))
Eheim 1048 Kreiselpumpe
Pumpenbefestigung (Klett) ( to mount pump in case I suppose? )
Papst Lüfter 120x120x25

+ tubing ( how much for a max tower case? )
+ cpu block ( innova X-flow rev1.0 - blau - 58.90 )
+ rad ( Noise Isolator Single - 48.90 )
+ res ( ?? Not on site... is this required? or is an "Ausgleichsbehälter" good enough? )

... Makes 185€, I could live with that. Is that all? How are the tubes connected to pump/waterblocks to prevent leaking?

tubing: you can't have enough of that. let's say 10metres
CPU block: ask someone else, or find a review, sorry
rad: yep, that's fine
res: not required. either fill & bleed, or make your own

also, get some hose clamps and splitters/connectors at a DIY shop. can't have enough of those either

a rec kan be very cheap, like mine :D

got a question , does watercooling kits fit on AMD & Intel or do you need a different CPU blok?

Was planning 2 buy one also but i don't know much of watercooling and next weekend i gonna do some modding and check for pumps and radiators in my garage so i don't have too buy that anymore.

Anyway I can make my own cpu blocks because my school has a cnc machine.
I only need a design/drawing for AMD cpu.

Someone who can help me with getting that design ;)

Most blocks have mounting holes for both AMD and Intel, but there are blocks that are Intel- or AMD-only, just look a the specs.

Well then i need to search for a drawing for amd & intel cpu blok.

If someone know one , you can always post them.
