MAZE4-1 GPU kit @ Radeon9800pro

Hellow :)

I got my MAZE4-1 GPU with 80W peltier today :king:
I'd like to intall it but it wouldn't hurt asking some questions to the more "experienced" overclockers ;)

1) I've been told a 80W Peltier has 6-7A, can i just connect it to the PSU? (enermax 460W) or is it best to make an extra circuit?

2) I read on this
Quote:

Remember to use a thin layer of AS3 between the hotside and the block, and a medium layer of AC between the coldside and the coldplate. Then tighten down the coldplate evenly, going alternately & diagonally across corners...
can't i just use normal white compound? (got left from zalman ;) )

all help/suggestions would be welcome :hello: thx in advance

I recieved mine yesterday :D (i rather would have an swiffie MCW50T)
But don't have the time to install it.

1) I have an antec truepower 480W and it works fine. You don't have to make an xtra circuit. Don't be fouled by the 80W,those 80W peltiers will work on their full capacity on 16V, so when connected to the psu (12V) it can remove 60W of heat.
2)It doesn't matter what kind of thermal paste you use, I used AS ceramique. I don't like the AS3, too liguid and nasty ;)

hope I've helped you a little :D

If u buy a old AT psu u could get 18V out of de big mobo connector as I don't think it is wise to hook a TEC up to those line while using your mobo on it at the same time...

10€ and u hav a at/ATX 200/300W
Don't know what the extra 2V will do good or bad...

I'm not a real tec know_it_all ...
Just sharing some info as I personally hate not using something to its full potential :p

just ignore this plz ;)

afaik, a 16V TEC blows at any voltage above 16V

a peltier doesn't work the best on his full capacity

a TEC works worst on full capacity/max voltage

I've heard that e.g. a 24V 172W TEC works best at 16volts. at 24Volts it removed more heat (about 30-40w I think) but it creates about two times more heat

I have no clue at how much voltage my swifty + pelt works on the gpu...as it's connected to the psu directly, is that 12V?

yes, swiffie only has an 80w version for their gpu wb (perhaps a mcw50T :D).
Since when does a molex on an average psu have more or less than 12V :D (off course it depends on 12V rail)

my mcw50t has been working on a 9700 pro/9800pro now, and I've never had any trouble with it and big overclocks

an 80W TEC is just powerful enough for those cards
