Default EHEIM 1250 of 1048

Dunno if you can read this but here goes anyway. in my humble opinion the 1250 is an awesome pump I have two of them right now, however it isn't always the best choice just because it pushes more GPH. I feel it works best with the CPU block in conjunction with the northbridge, and VGA blox. If only going with the CPU block then the 1048 should be sufficient using the 1250 can actually ADD heat to your circuit causing higher temps. I also go with a 12.70 MM tubing if possible. Just my 2 cents CYA!

True, but the eheim 1250 is a ****** to get completly noiseless. Even with 1" rubber feet and vibration-dampening mats i can still hear my eheim 1250 hum... :/

1048 = ideal for extreme silence projects
1250 = ideal for extreme h2o cooling in my humble opinion...

Well I understand where your coming from on the other hand my 1250 is honestly pretty darn quiet......here's how:

I simply placeda 1/2" foam used in the shipping of electronics etc. I cut out the inside to form a pocket like cavity. Boom no noise and a vibration free 1250. CYA!

"pretty darn quiet" is just not good enough for me, it needs to be completly noiseless.

LOL I guess we are after ultimately after two different objectives here. It is quiet, it's all in the foundation you place it on, and another point if your going to water cool with a pump of that size (1250) I'm guessing performance is an issue for you. 317 GPH is alot and if thats the case then that means your running a heat exchanger which is being cooled by what........a fan which is now louder than the pump so the whole idea of quiet is "out the window". So if quiet is what you seek then the 1048 may be the better option, on the other hand if a slight DB increase is in fact acceptable then I still say the 1250 is a wise choice as long as you place it on a decent foundation. Rubber as the insulator in my humble opinion isn't cutting it especially if the Durometer is high then whats the point all your doing is transfering the vibes thru the rig. Foam accepts and terminates nearly all vibrations generated by the 1250. Again if you are cooling more than the CPU I say the 1250 is choice, otherwise you may be adding heat at which point the 1048 would be better for your application.

wel , extreme cooling is the purpose here
and that little bit of humming i'm willing to take.

but at the moment i have my doubts
i can buy a sicce idra (pushes 1300L/hour and is pretty easily moddible to 1/2 (12mm) fittings) for 33€
or i can buy a eheim 1250 (that pushes 1200L/hour and is more difficult to mod to 1/2 fittings) for 74€

now i have to look at the quality/price

anyone an idea? it has to function in a waterchiller because i'm looking to get one in the next couple of months.
dunno if the idra can handle sub zero temps.

ps they both have 50W of heat they release to the water so you don't have to look there
