T-Zero: New thermalpaste tested

When a new company told us that they had a thermal paste which could beat Arctic Silver 5, we were more then intrigued, today we test their T-Zero versus the competition to find out if their claim is true.

Are you seriously believe it would beat AS5 in P4 while it doesn't hold water with AXP?

Well, we will see ........ that's why we test products.:)

I really like the review good job. :ws:

I do however have one tiny-weenie criticism. I would have liked to see him use both methods of application. Spreading, and placing a rice (Aborro rice) sized grian and allowing the HS to compress it. This may have favored AS even more, but looking at the consistancies of the pastes, I wonder how much air was trapped spreading it?

application on AXP != P4 !

They send send me their in-house results for AXP which can be read here .

K8/P4 results will clear up everything I think :D

So, the result shows almost neck to neck or slightly in favor of AS5.
Well, let's see how K8/P4 will show.

their results are measured over a 30min period.
TeuS' results are measured over 8640min.. :)

thermal paste "burn in" does play a big part in the end

My opinion (what else do I have unless I share a split personality with Democritus) is that ArcticSilver is THE premiere manufacturer of thermal paste. Your not going to find a better paste simply because there's NO other company which devotes itself entirely to the manufacture (through research and development) of thermal transfer material.

If there were another company that did this, they would be catching up to the years of experience AS already has. This is would be simliar to saying "who makes the best phase-change." Well prior to Chip-Con, no one did exclusively, and when VapoChill did they still couldn't come very close because they were not concentrating solely on that enterprise. While it's true AS is exploring a few other avenues, they've only done so from necessity. They needed to create a better surface prep for their own TIM. Arctic Silver has been making TIM, and only TIM, longer then anyone I'm aware of (as a specialty maker), and I doubt anyone is going to come along and beat their carefully engineered formulae.

Their way ahead in research, and if you think they haven't already thought of forumla's like "carbon black" or using diamond dust, you'd be sorely mistaken. I have both of the competition's formula's which were considered the only pastes to come cose to AS. One is Shin Etsu, the other ESG, and neither beats AS3 or AS5.

Your friend Keith (and Democritus).

Shin Etsu beats AS3 afaik :)

indeed, before AS5 was released, arctic silver was feeling the breath of the competitors in its neck

they're indeed dedicated to producing the highest quality thermal compound around, but that doesn't mean that the new, innovating products don't have a chance.

I wouldn't hope on a white or silver paste to surpass Arctic Silver though :)
