| Gamer; I have been running the 2.8E at 3.5 daily since Feb. air cooling with Phoenix 70 (radial fin) and CV on P4P800 Deluxe. Idle 42C and tops 57C at 22-23C room temp. I have to add NB fan otherwise it won't go over 245FSB.

| From day one I was in complete diagreement these chips run any warmer then most. In fact my A64 3400 runs a lot warmer then my prescott. I love my 3.0E, and although there's now the 775-LGA version, we have sopme time to go before PCI-express matures. I'm running some Kingston KHX3200K2/2G at 250FSB, and having a great ole Prescott time. |

| Well I've only pushed the memory 1:1, as I'm testing for a review, but here's 250FSB benchmarks and temps. And I'm going to use the divider and try some CPU MHz overclocking on the old Prescott. I've had this cpu to to 4010MHz, but I've dumped all my high-speed memory. I was supposed to get some PC4800 from OCZ, but haven't yet. Anyway, here's the 250FSB 2GB-kit of Hyper-X. By the way, until someone works on disabling the D-VID feature on Prescott overclocking is going to be very difficult. You simply can't thow large amounts of voltage at it or two things happen. First; "...reverse current may flow into the AC-DC regulator’s input filter, potentially charging the input filter to a voltage above the over voltage value. Upon detection of this condition, the AC-DC regulator will react by shutting down the ACDC regulator supply voltage." I believe this is what frys the motherboard power circuitry. Second; Prescott, based oin it's D-VID feature works best with Vcore set to "Auto". Eeven manually setting the minmum Vcore will cuase problems. IF your going to overclock, and reach the point where you need to boost Vcore, try to remain under 1.450V. As an experiement, try overclocking the processor at 1.600V, and try the same overclock at 1.525V . You'll get a more stable OC with the lower voltage. Another thing is if you can't disbale the Power Montior, make sure to raise the Thermal Clock Throttling to 87% for high frequencies. Okie dokie, I'll be back after I try some high frequency OCing. |
