There's a simple trick to getting insane overclocks - getting the right steppings. Your stepping that you got is quite shitty. My Opteron 165 0610 DPMW will do 334x9 at 1.55v, 300x9 at stock voltage, and stock speed at 1.1v. Hate to hotlink, but I got my info from http://wiki.extremeoverclocking.com/wiki/Opteron, and I'm damn glad I did. Of course Mad Shrimps knows the advantages of getting the right stepping, but perhaps you weren't aware of the best steppings at the time of the article. In any case, I say you write a new article or rewrite this article to show what a good stepping'll do.

The x2's don't overclock half as good if you get an average stepping. If you get a good stepping for your x2 and a good stepping for your Opteron, the Opteron will overclock the crap out of the x2. Opteron's have higher-quality silicon and lower stock volts, providing a great overclocker.

In no way am I bragging.

I didn't get mine with luck, I got mine from eBay. I guess this isn't quite the best way to get your CPU but it is if you know what you're looking for.

Yeah, I saw that too. I believe the wiki copied from the forum.

the problem I see is that when you buy from ebay/forums people will ask a premium for good steppings; and at the end of the day pure CPU alone doesn't really matter that much, if your PC has a 2.5Ghz or 3Ghz A64 CPU you will be hard pressed to notice a difference

Tried AMDcpu dirver 1.3.2 version - bad idea .... affecting graphic card = lock up....... then, can't remove the driver despite -
1) uninstall from device manager
2) removing and deleting from registry
3) reinstalling drive in hope for removal of previous driver command would prompt = no

Finally restore drive image made prior to this damn driver update .... saving the day.

May be the 1.3.2 version is meant for AM2 ..... So, if your X2 is working fine, don't bother with this drive update.

After restoring, I did the following and it seems to work.

1) Reinstall AMDcpu driver v 1.2.2. which prompts to uninstall the driver.
2) Reboot; check amdcpu driver = v 1.2.2 no longer exits but shows MS driver instead
3) Install AMDcpu driver v 1.3.2.

Works as normal ...... but, I can't seem to find the way to uninstall v 1.3.2.

It shows gain on 3Dmark03, others are the same. I will leave it on for a few days; and revert back to 1.2.2. I hate drivers that can't be removed.

The latest AMD driver works after removing MS Hot fix if you have earlier X2 or Dual core Opteron.
