OCZ Gladiator MAX CPU Cooler Tested OCZ has been aggressively pushing forward their CPU Cooler line-up, the Gladiator MAX is the latest addition and promises some excellent performance with its included 120mm fan and direct heatpipe touch design. This is relatively light-weight high end CPU Cooler at only 557gram without fan; it a tower cooler cut in half with 4 large heat pipes to transfer heat to the collection of aluminum fins; OCZ included a second mounting kit, based on a bolt-through method with metal back plate; first thing we did was compare the performance; stock S775 push pins (PP) vs S775 bolted kit: Almost 2°C difference; not too bad all things considered; but installation is a lot easier with the push pins; if you're after best performance the answer is easy. Rubber mounts for the fan ensure minimum vibration noise; increasing the performance/noise ratio of the OCZ Gladiator MAX. We compared it here to the Scythe Ninja CU, a 1kg fully Copper monster... does the Gladiator come out victorious? Well, there you have it, not only did the Gladiator beat the Copper Ninja, combined with a high speed fan it comes close to performance of the 6 heat pipe extreme-high-end coolers out there.
