MSI K7N2 Delta2 Platinum Athlon XP nForce2 Review With the latest nVidia chipset for the Athlon XP we get onboard Gigabit, RAID and SATA; we take a closer look at MSI´s implementation of this feature rich chip and see what it has to offer. http://www.madshrimps.be/gotoartik.php?articID=216 |
Nice board, too bad about the missing NB voltsetting. If you are lucky you have chip that goes high at stock speed. Those metal strips next to the NB, are they OC strips like abit has ? And the red pci slot ? Anything special about that ? |
Ow, and by the way :super: review |

updated the article, thanks HardFreak Overclocking Strips seem to have been around for some time now, seen Epox 8RDA+ with such strips already. Here's what ABIT has to say about them: "When it comes to overclocking, heat is your worst enemy. Running components beyond specifications generates heat that can cause the system to crash or lock up. To that end, ABIT has developed OC Strips that are placed directly on the motherboard PCB. These OC strips help to efficiently dissipate heat, which means increased stability in extreme overclocking conditions. ABIT has also integrated a large amount of copper between each PCB layer. Copper, a material with three times the heat transfer of aluminum, gives ABIT boards added stability under stressing conditions. " such strips are indeed present near the NB and around the CPU socket; http://www.madshrimps.be/articles/MS...-jmke-4384.jpg The Orange (not red :)) PCI slot is used especially for "communications", it's designed for a "wireless card", but can be used as a normal PCI Slot. It's +/- the same as the CNR slot found on some board. those strips are also at the back of the board btw: |
The best I like about MSI is the two features they provide: 1) Live Update - the ease of use and first to come out with this feature I believe (may be wrong). 2) Core Center - they were called Fuzzy Logic at the beginning. I was hoping you get higher than 215 FSB.:) What is your opinion with this MSI againt NF7-S? |
nice info about those strips :) |
