Motherboard Chipset Cooler Roundup

Six heatsinks, one chipset, and a truckload full screws. We mount these little metal blocks onto a hot nForce4 motherboard to find out which one cools best and is most SLI friendly.

Introduction

The market for third party chipset coolers has not been a very big one, but not with hotter motherboard chipsets from NVIDIA its gaining popularity
not=> now?

thanks:)

I think, the popularitiy comes more from noisy chipset fans and crappy stock solutions than just from hot chipsets.

most Core 2 come with passive cooling so that might reduce demand

very first paragraph:
* "listing" -> "listening"
* "this chipset" is kinda strange when not a specific model is specified, "the latest chipsets" would be better
* "or relied on a small fan that had to spin incredibly and was very noisy." I reckon the word 'fast' was unconsciously dropped somewhere :)

second paragraph
"ruining" should be dropped altogether in the sentence

page 2, first paragraph:
"took quite some effort", bad use in this context, should be "put quite some effort"

page 3, second paragraph:
"is fairly easy to the use", drop 'the'
third paragraph: would rephrase the first sentence to 'So switching to the Blue Ice Pro is a bigger change than the suffix alone would make you believe.'

page 5, first paragraph:
* "Jing Ting as a company may not sound very familiar in your ears" litteral translation from dutch, better would be "Jing Ting is not a company most are familiar with"
* "Don't mind going .." is the wrong saying in this context, correct would be "Don't bother going .."

bleh ;)

Nice review, but i guess the only cooler that would work on my mobo will be the Jing Ting.

Btw, what's aluminum ? Do you, by any chance, mean aluminium ?

jmke 16th August 2006 12:31

aluminium is UK spelling, aluminum is US spelling
