Carrera Turbo
Now, you are talking.;)

Xploited Titan 28th July 2004 00:18

I saw on Top Gear, on on the BBC channel (dunno which one though), the MERCEDES SLR... :o :ws:

The pilot who tested it has succeeded in burning his brakes

I'll try to find a link if I can: he drove to a very high speed and suddenly did an emergency brake: his disks were glowing red and when the car was stopped, you had flames coming from within the wheels :ws:

That'll be my car :D

jmke 28th July 2004 00:37

Porsche 911 Turbo >> Merc. SLR btw

Xploited Titan 28th July 2004 02:36

Sorry? better then the SLR? I don't think you really saw the car... :-p

jmke 28th July 2004 02:44

I don't think you saw Top_Gear_Mercedes_SLR_hi.wmv

my bad btw.. mixed up 911 with Carrera GT, anyways ->

SLR vs Carrera Turbo GT;

SLR BPH: 626
911: 612

SLR weight: 1693kg
911: 1380kg

SLR 0->60mph: 3.8s
911: 3.8s

SLR price: £313465
911: £322899

Flaws on the FLR:
- plastic interior
- brakes are numb
- the ride is a bit hard

Flaws on the 911:
- Nonething except for the people who made it (Germans:p)

Xploited Titan 28th July 2004 02:50

Ride is a bit hard -> it's a race car remember :-p If you want luxury, you'll need to go for luxury cars :D

brakes are numb -> Might be, but these are the only ones that burn :^D And I found the car braking rather good...

plastics -> yeah, that's why I don't like MERCEDES, they choose such bad plastics and when you look at their pricelist :puke:

And, what you forgot to mention: it's the fastest car they had at topgear :)

jmke 28th July 2004 02:56

no good if you can't stop, they loved the Carrera GT more :p

jmke 16th October 2009 09:45

back from the dead, our original video hosted at Google Video ; now re-encoded with vReveal and hosted in HD at Youtube (click HD).
Notice a difference? :)

Massman 16th October 2009 09:51

I think english changed since this video.

jmke 16th October 2009 10:10

I was talking about image quality ;)

Massman 16th October 2009 10:12

I'd say you all look much younger than you are in real life, so the IQ is good?

jmke 16th October 2009 10:16

vReveal does better with worse source material; if your shots are already quite good, the difference is less spectacular, but if you start out with low quality, you can up it quite a bit.
of course it always best to ameliorate the source recording, stable camera work, good lightening etc. Sometimes you don't have the time to do all that, so in that case vReveal will come in handy for sure!
