Intel P4 Aircooling - Heatsink Roundup Q1 2005 In part two of our roundup we compare 11 different P4 heatsinks made by Thermalright, Spire, Primecooler, Zalman, Evercool, Vantec and Titan. Using different fans at low and high speed we try to find the best bang for the buck, best performer and most silent HSF combo out there http://www.madshrimps.be/gotoartik.php?articID=245 |
Nice roundup. Just wanted to add, that there is an additional rentention-modul available for Thermalright XP 90/120 on socket 775. |
yes I know:) thanks! http://www.madshrimps.be/articles/In...-jmke-4624.jpg included in in the last roundup, forgot to mention it here |
Congratulation, you got the best cooler review on the net :ws: I run the XP-120 with the GLL Papst on my 2.2 GHz A64. I wonder if it's really the GLL Papst and not the GL as the results seem too dam good for a true silent fan (I hurt my ear at the fanblades when trying to hear something besides the low air movement). There is a problem with the noise measurement as the 35.8 dba seem to be the ambient noise level which means that the quietest fans can't fight it out between each other. Also measurement of the sone level (how annyoing a noise is) would be nice as the 120mm fans usually do better there. Arctic Cooling is using that one for their products. Will there be a roundup with a hotter CPU like a overvolted and overclocked A64 or a 3.6 GHz Prescott? It seems as the 2.4N orthwood is just too cool for the high CFM 120mm fans. I miss the Arctic Cooling Freezer in the roundup and the Thermaltake heatsinks. |
I'm working on A64 roundup now which includes the Freezer64 and some other newcomers. How can I measure "sone" accurately? :) I know the 35.8 is higher then most, but I could not get it quieter in the room, sorry :) will try to get that number down for the next round about the fan, it really is the GLL, ultra silent one:) http://www.madshrimps.be/articles/Th...-jmke-4252.jpg btw, the 2.4C was overclocked to 3ghz with 1.6v vcore, increasing heat output quite a bit :hello: |
