It's always a pleasure to review equipment that you never have tested before, certainly if you have just the right setup lying around. A heavy storage server in 3U rack housing? I-Star's D-300 believes it can be done!

It's a bit to heavy to let it rest on your tuner deck, too big too.
But as a standalone machine it could be used as a HTPC. If you don't mind the holes in the sides. You can remove the handles, but that leaves even more (and bigger) holes.
It is certainly more usable as an HTPC when compared to a full size rackhousing, which is lot longer.

FYI, the Silverstone LC17 reviewed by TerAngreal is also a rackmount case, and it fits perfectly in his TV case:
