Danger Den TDX vs Cool Cases CF1 v2 A new revision of the Cool-Cases CF1 is put up against Danger Denīs latest high performance water block, the TDX. Which one will keep an Athlon 64 the coolest, read on to find out. http://www.madshrimps.be/gotoartik.php?articID=201 |

Any idea?;-) |
L3D should be waking up about now ;) |
any idea what the performance drop will be with a Hydor L20 instead of the L30? :) |
L3D been sleeping for the last 72 hours. Must be having a very sweet dream.:grr: |
just saw some other thing, my waterblock the Coolcases AAF-1 has the same cupper block as the CF-1 rev2 mine: http://users.pandora.be/gunniepsx/AAF-1.jpg the CF-1 rev2 at the right: http://www.madshrimps.be/articles/Da...-jmke-3742.jpg maybe i'll buy the upgrade lucite top and mount it on my block so i have a CF-1 :D |

I'm really sorry I had ANOTHER virus completely crash my HDD. Just finished reformatting partitoning, and reloading windows. Lost many days work. It takes days to download all the software I use, even at 100Mbs. ANyhoo, First question. I have tested between thermistor and on-die pertaining to those 50C temps. You do know that referred to an air-cooled stock AMD heatsink, and the smallest (70mmx15mm) fan (with a poorly placed thermal diode) I've ever seen. I had a lot of trouble getting the thermistor close to the core (center of the IHS) then I did the waterblock, due to the footprint size. (Footprint = heatsink base making contact with CPU IHS) However, the fact the sock AMD heatsink is larger, does actually make the temp more accurate due to the way the heatsink "conducts" the temps outward, and up through the metal to the fins. So if the thermistor is making good contact between the heatsink base, and CPU surface (even at the edge) the evenly conducted heat down there should provide better temps then a waterblock. A wasserkuhler concentrates it's effects (cooling) to a few square (or round hehe) mm area beneath the water jets. Sorry Correction. The extrernally placed thermistor read approximately 47C IDLE, and 49C LOAD. This was after mounting it about five times. It was diffcult to get the thermistor in there, where it needed to be, and lock down the heatsink simultaneosly. With the waterblock's it's much easier to tighten down the screws and hold the thermistor where you want it. People have reported the the Chaintech ZNF3-250 to be about 5C above the actual temps. I couldn't verify that do the the inaacuracy of thermistor's in general when mounted under heatsinks, so I didn't mention it. OK the Hydor L20. I do think it would make a difference to use a higher pressure pump with either block. However; Since the CF1- Rev2 held number one (now at number 2) here at Watercoolplanet CPU-Kuhler chart (50 blocks compared). And their test system seen here is a low-flow system, your Hydor L-20 should work fine. I'd definately recommend the CF1-rev2 though NOT the Danger Den TDX if your using the L-20. The CF-1 Rev.2 is till holding 1st place at Caseumbau's wasserkuhler charts seen here and their test system is also a low-flow as seen HERE. This also indicates your Hydor l-20 will be fine with the CF1 rev.2 However I HIGHLY recommend gettin their new bodenplatte CRR01-03 seen here. It's flow characteristics are much better then the original, and I beleive it will benefit a low-flow (any flow) pump. If you read the review you'll see why in my conclusion where I compare the two base-plates (bodenplattes). I wish I could sleep. |
Okay, I always estimate approximately 7 C (max 10C) higher on-die temp than Tcase temp in P4 system. On-die would be the one that controls the throttling effect. Since A64 has the same throttling down effect as P4, I'd suspect similar return of deviation. Although, I have no idea where the locations of the two sensors (near the center and close to the surface or otherwise). Thanks for the info. |
