Jmke,
If you want, I could do the S478 and S462 in one article.

Took a few close up pictures; I am impressed with the quality and overall finish; especially the close to mirror finish; smooth contact areas to the CPU on both S-478 and S-462.

S-478 has "bulb type" temp sensor.

I will just compare them with Arctic Cooling 4 Pro and 2L, since both they are in the test rigs.

Done with all pics...data from current systems (re-ran everything to have all current data). Should be done by tomorrow if not, may just be another day. Hope they deliver as they did in looks.;)

Problem already..... the thermal control fan in well ventilated case refuses to turn over 1600 rpm; when it gets to speed around 2400, the CPU temp has already jumped to over 68C. With a 70mm fan @1600 rpm, I'm not going anywhere using 2.8C.

Switched to 70x70x25 fan that came with the AXP cooler with no thermal sensor - running now; called the manufacturer and left the guy a message to call back.;)

that's indeed a bit hot:)

More news/problem

Design overlook - Heatsink won't sit flush with CPU due to the 4 plugs that hold the P4 retention are protruding on certain boards. Manufacturing tests were done with Intel, MSI and Tyan boards with the plugs flushed (recessed).;)

Both Asus and Abit are with the plugs protruding (not flushed).

Jmke,

Please check PM. Both reviews done. What a mess.;)

Rather intesting with the A64 Cooler -

1) Preliminary dimensions show 80mm fan could be installed instead of 70x15 that came with.

2) Can't say why a retention bracket is included.

3) Base finish is nothing to write about; machine marks could be seen and felt.

Frostytech came back and I notice the data listed on the 66IC was reversed.
