no more voltmods and no extreme cooling (pelts) should make this card last a long while.

if you know someone with another brand who did the softmod (and it worked)...ask the brand...

that's my idea

If you want to know if you have got the 9700 alike board...
1. Look at the pictures of the 9700 and compare
2. If there are 2 memory chips next to and 2 chips above (like L shape then it probably will be possible...)

Mine arrives tommorrow installing is saturday...

You mention this in your 9500 article

I have the same card as you ( Connect3D from Loveno ) and after the 9500softmod I can easily overclock the card without any bios flash. However I did use Radeonator 2.0 for overclocking. Maybe flashing the bios isn't necessary for overclocking. I have check the results of each oc and it works :

core/mem Game4 Nature/Point Sprites
270/270 82.2/33.1
310/310 96.6/38.4
324/324 98.7/40.0
330/330 101.5/40.9
337/337 runs but too much artifacts
351/351 runs but too much artifacts
364/330 106.2/42.5
371/330 106.8/42.7
378/330 runs but too much artifacts
398/330 runs but too much artifacts

note I have run this batch with just the stock cooler/fan and no ramsink. When I got my WC and some ramsink, I will try to push it even up.
