Thanks Guys.
It was my pleasure

It turns out that these drivers aren’t quite the drivers we were expecting (the 3.2 driver was submitted for WHQL certification back in February), but this driver does offer official support for the RADEON 9800 PRO. In a sign of the CATALYST team’s dedication however, hints have been dropped that the upcoming CATALYST 3.3 driver will offer substantial performance gains for existing RADEON 9700 users. We’ll just have to wait and see if those reports hold true, today we’re here to evaluate CATALYST 3.2.

3.3 vs 3.2

A-star 28th April 2003 22:38

no sign of the 3.3 driver on the ati website.

The driver they are testing comes from a pc manufacter.
Ati didn't release it yet.

I'm not going to test it until ati officially releases it

the maniak 28th April 2003 22:42

I've got beter performance with the cat3.1 then with the 3.2

strange

jmke 28th April 2003 23:43

3.3 was released with latest Dell drivers
they are not official yet :)

Zion 1st May 2003 18:27

Wanneer komen die 3.3 drivers officieel ongeveer uit?

jmke 2nd May 2003 00:15

no idea but you can give them a wirl if you like:
Dell Catalyst 3.3 Beta - v.6.14.10.6334:
ftp://ftp.dell.com/video/R59659.EXE

This driver works for all Radeon graphic cards not only Dell's.
From the list of available drivers choose any- it does not matter.
If you get "INF error. Video driver not found." update your driver via the Windows update driver function

A-star 12th May 2003 14:13

I'm not going to test these and screw up my system.
I'll wait untill ATI releases them and test them after I do a backup of my system

Proper procedure for ati-driver change:
- image your OS (between 5 - 10 minutes)
- remove previous drivers
- install new ones

If it crashes, it will take you exact 5-10 minutes to rewrite the OS-image.

Norton Ghost is one of the best software packages i ever bought, it is even too cheap imo

A-star 14th May 2003 08:30

I know, I have a ghost of a completely clean install of XP,
The problem is, I don't have enough space on hard disk to do a backup of my system, and I have no cd's left.

Anyway, I have to format in a couple of days -> something went wrong during the testing of the Xaser III (had to use another video card) and my system behaves weird.

Both tests were run on my NF7-S, AMD 1700+, no settings changed, 1700+ was running at default clock, as was my 9700P.
