Asus Triton 79 CPU Cooler Tested The Asus Triton 79 is one of our victims of today, we tested it on our overclocked Prescott to see how it handles. This cooler is rather compact and uses a custom size fan rated at ~1200rpm. It comes with gold colored accessories and mounting brackets, very high end and packaging is sublime! Four heat pipes, push-pin installation and Blue-LED fan make this a pretty good heatsink; Here's how it compares to similar sized heatsinks... you can pretty much ignore the fan @ low (5v) result as the build-in fan is spinning too slow to effectively cool the CPU. A very commendable performance/noise ratio with the fan at full speed, while it comes after the Hyper TX from Coolermaster, it's also noticeably quieter, yet performance wise only trails by 1-2°C. Impressive outcome overall. More details in our full CPU Cooler roundup coming to the site soon. |
and how solid are the push-pins? and the results look good exept on low :D thats just silly xD |
all S775 push pins are pretty much alike, using the same Intel provided specs; if you want you can use the Thermalright S775 backplate and mounting screws to provide extra pressure, easy and affordable mod which will give win you a few degrees if you're into overclocking. Agreed that performance at low fan speed is laughable, has everything to do with the fan speed at 5v (only 339rpm) so at 7-9v you'll get a better price/performance ratio. Definitely need to hook it up to a fan controller if you want a silent PC (or use speedfan software to control through motherboard's 4-pin... or use Bios PWM auto fan speed mode) |
ah :) hmm got nothing else to say :-p |
